Information:Victor Harbour is an old settlement built around a whaling station on the southern coast of the Fleurieu Peninsula. Whaling stopped a long time ago when the whales stopped visiting the area, and the town is now a tourist destination (as well as the venue for 'schoolies' a week or so of partying for Adelaidean school-leavers). The whales have slowly begun returning over recent years, and can be seen through the winter - so I and my parents took a drive down there to see if we could spot them. Unfortunately, we didn't see any, but we did get a good walk around Granite Island - a rocky outcrop in the middle of the harbour. |
